8 of 2024 – River Updates

Twyford Bridge, Yalding

Bridge replacement works are currently being carried out at Twyford Bridge, Yalding. There is a width restriction on the river at this location due to the positioning of the contractors pontoon, however there is sufficient room for boats to pass.

Please be aware of the contractors moving equipment and materials by barge between downstream of Yalding Lifting Bridge to Twyford Bridge Marina.

These works will continue until the week commencing 20th May. Please proceed with caution.

Closures & Restrictions

East Lock – Porters Lock remains drawn down awaiting a repair from our contractors as per Notice to Mariners 5 of 2024.

Leigh Flood Storage Area to Tonbridge Town Lock has now been reinstated, however due to the heavy rainfall during the drawdowns there is a large buildup of silt in the lock which is making use of the lock impossible. Unfortunately we are unable to transport our works vessel to Tonbridge to clear the silt until the East Lock works are complete, we will send an update as soon as possible.
