Allington Sluice Works

The Environment Agency would like to inform you of the works at Allington Sluice. These works will return the asset to a good working condition across all three gates. The works will ensure the effective operation of the sluice for our operators.

We have mobilised on the site and the works started the week commencing 07 July 2021 until summer 2022. There will be a break over the winter period to allow for high flows to pass through the sluice without obstruction. At times, the permitted route across the sluice may need to be closed. However, there will be no direct impact on boaters throughout the works.

There will be no scaffolding on the structure, and a large crane in operation. There may be times when we will have close access to the bridge for a short amount of time whilst the crane is in operation, this should only cause a minor disruption. We will be in touch with local businesses when this is happening.

Please be assured that our regular, dedicated team will continue to be present on the site to assist river users with their passage through the lock and answer any questions that they may have in the meantime.

If you have any queries or would like more information on the works please do not hesitate to contact us on 01622 752864 or by email at [email protected]
