watch_later 11/10/24

The Environment Agency became aware of an oil spill on the river yesterday afternoon in the area between Branbridges and Anchor Sluice in Yalding. Our team responded promptly and, with the assistance of our Environmental Management colleagues, quickly identified the source. The situation is now under control, and no further pollution is anticipated. Booms have been installed at Anchor Sluice, and the cleanup process has commenced.

To enable an effective cleanup we are closing the navigation between Anchor Sluice and Hampstead Lock. We will issue an updated notice when Hampstead Lock is reopened.
