15 of 2024 - Yalding Lifting Bridge Refurbishment Works

Yalding Lifting Bridge has reached the end of its useful life. Essential maintenance must be undertaken to extend the structures operability. In order to carry out this essential work the navigation will be closed at Yalding Lifting Bridge from 25th September until 20th November 2024.

During this time a fixed bridge will be put in place, spanning the navigation and a work pontoon will be underneath the bridge. The work includes new hydraulic pipelines, new barriers and associated components, new covers and new paint protection coating.

We apologise for any inconvenience the works will cause. Works could not be carried out any later in the year due to winter high flows and to enable the paint protection system to be applied during the warmer months to ensure optimal performance.

From the 16th September to 20th November 2024, Yalding Canoe portage and surrounding area will be closed. This area will be the works compound and parking for residents of Parsonage Lane.

Please make prior arrangements if you need to move your vessel before the closure dates.
