12 of 2026 - Upcoming Events

Mariners are advised of the following organised events taking place on the River Medway:

• Medway Marathon – Sunday 2 August 2026
  
  From Allington to Tonbridge Canoe Club. Three staggered starts from Allington from approximately 10:30am. Competitors will quickly disperse into smaller groups and are expected to have minimal impact on other river users.
• Tonbridge Hasler Race – Sunday 23 August 2026
  
  In Tonbridge, with two race sessions:
• Morning: Competitors will head upstream around the island and flood barrier in staggered batches.
• Afternoon: Competitors will start below Cannon Lane Bridge and head downstream on varying courses, with some continuing as far as Sluice Lock.
• Tonbridge Lions Dragon Boat Race – Sunday 6 September 2026
  
  Taking place between Tonbridge Castle and Big Bridge from approximately 9:00am to 5:00pm. Around 30 teams will compete over a 200-metre course. The event will be managed by Dragon Boat Events, with safety boats in attendance throughout.

All participants will receive a safety briefing covering expected behaviour on the water and at portages. Any unsafe or unsportsmanlike conduct will be addressed by event organisers.

All river users are requested to navigate with caution and, where safe to do so, give racing crews unhindered passage during these events.
